The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here again, and I want to be super honest with you. As someone who aims for a more intentional and functional wardrobeānot one overflowing with random āsale findsāāhere are a few things to consider before you start shopping:
You donāt need something just because itās on sale.
This sale is everywhere! Every influencer and their mom is sharing āmust-haves,ā and itās easy to feel like youāre missing out if youāre not shopping. I feel that too, even as someone who shares the sale every year. But hereās the truth: if it wasnāt on your wishlist before, it probably doesnāt belong in your cart now.
āStock up on basicsā is the biggest myth of this sale.
While the sale canĀ be a good time to grab a staple or two, Iāve honestly found better basics for better prices at other retailers. Think Target, Madewell, Gap, or even Amazon. Nordstromās strength lies more in jackets, coats, boots, and maybe a great bagānot in tanks and tees.
A lot of items doĀ come back in stockāand on sale.
Youāll hear āonce itās gone, itās gone,ā but thatās only true for a small handful of items (like exclusive Beis colors or one-off designer drops). The reality? Most items return later in the season and go on sale again. Iāve seen it happen every year.
Stick to yourĀ style and wardrobe needs.
Ask yourself: āWould I buy this at full price? Would I wear this regularly?ā If it doesnāt fit your style or lifestyle, skip it. A curated wardrobe isnāt built through impulse buysāitās built with intention.
Budget is self-care.
Overspending might feel fun in the moment, but it often leads to regret. Have a budget. Make a list. One intentional splurge is better than a pile of so-so pieces you donāt actually wear.
If youāre planning to shop, I willĀ be sharing my curated favorites soonāonly pieces I genuinely think are worth it. Keep an eye out for that post or follow me on Instagram and LTK where Iāll be sharing in real time!
Letās shop intentionally this year. Your closet (and bank account) will thank you.
