We all know how important it is to take care of our skin, especially when you’re past your twenties (me!). But let’s be honest…how hard it is to actually build and most importantly, keep a skincare routine? I know I’ve struggled many times in the past trying to include a skincare routine in my daily and nightly routine. It took me years to research, develop, and maintain a regimented skin program. It is important to say that great skin is not only a matter of DNA, it’s critical to take care of your skin every day. In this post, I’ll share a simple thing that I did that helped me create and maintain a routine for my skin.
In the past, I’d put all my skin products in a separate area (such as my vanity or bedside table) from the rest of my hygienic products. I struggled to consistently build this into my routine because I wasn’t incorporating my skincare with the rest of my body care.
So, last year I decided to try something different and put all my skincare products next to my bathroom sink, side by side with my toothbrush because that was already part of my morning and night routine. Guess what? It worked! Since last year, before bed, and after brushing my teeth, I wash my face and apply all the products that are sitting next to my toothbrush, and the same thing in the mornings. By adding skincare into an existing routine rather than trying to create a separate process I was able to consistently maintain my skin.
