HUNTER BOOTS REVIEW & 5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY

Updated: Apr 22, 2022

Hunter boots are definitely a classic! The British brand started over 150 years ago and the famous boots have been worn by Lady Di and other fashion icons. There’s no doubt about its quality and timelessness, but here are a few things you should know before you buy!

  1. They are not extremely comfortable (at first!)

I wear mine all the time but it took me a few tries to start getting the feel for them.  It’s a very chunky boot so you’ll feel a little weird walking in them at first. With time you’ll feel more comfortable, and now it is my most worn boot!

2. They can be a little difficult to take it off

In the beginning it was very hard for me to take them off, and upon sharing this with friends I learned that they experienced the same issue.

Since it’s a rubber boot and there’s no zipper or opening, it can be a little work to slip your feet in and out of them. It gets easier with time, I promise!

3.Never wear them without socks

Because of item #2. It would take you 45 minutes and a lot of time, stress, and effort to take them off!

4.They are not practical to travel with if you have to pack them.

Unless you buy the shorter or packable version, the original style is way too big and will take a lot of space in your luggage. When I traveled with mine, I wore them on the plane so I didn’t have to pack them.

5. Not a snow boot!

As we know, Hunter Boots are made of rubber, so it’s not the warmest of materials. When I first wore them in the cold, my feet almost froze! I ended up buying their Waffle socks which help some but they are a little bit pricey.

In conclusion, they are perfect for rainy days and even the cold, but don’t expect to walk or play comfortably in the snow for hours while wearing them.

Pro tips

  • Sizing

Hunter Boots are sold in whole sizes. If you are between sizes, size ½ down. I’m size 8.5 and my boots are size 8 and fit perfectly, even with the chunky socks.

  • Which model?

There are so many options and that’s a very personal choice but, I’ve tried on the packable one in black and I didn’t like the fit and the color (it was more of a grayish color than a black). I own the Original Tall Rain Boots in matte black. I love the matte finish just because, in my opinion, it is an easier color to coordinate with my wardrobe.

Overall, I love my Hunter boots and I wear them all the time during fall & winter. It’s great quality and a classic, so I know I’ll be wearing them for years.
